Caring for your wool garments

Always ensure you read the label for specific careinstructions, as they may vary. A few simple measuresafter each wear will ensure your wool garments remainin great condition over time.

Laundering

Where possible it is recommended to turn the garmentinside out for laundering and to avoid bleaches andbiological detergents, unless they are Woolmarkapproved. Always launder like colours together.There are generally four laundering options (dependingon the care claim on the label):

1. Dry clean only – your wool garment should be takento a reputable dry cleaner to ensure that the superiorquality of this garment is maintained.

2. Hand wash - luke warm hand wash at approximately30°C, using a gentle Woolmark approved detergentand rinse well. Dry knitwear flat and line dry wovens.

3. Machine washable - ideally wash on a wool washcycle – if this is not available then put on a maximumof 40°C gentle action wash

4. Total Easy Care - follow machine washableinstructions – your wool garment can then be tumbledried on a low setting or delicate cycle.

Easy Care Wool

More and more wool is being produced to satisfy today’sever-increasing demand for easy care garments.With Machine Washable and Total Easy Care wool,technology gives nature a helping hand - allowing woolto be safely washed and cared for at home.Look for the following icons on your Woolmark and Woolmark Blend labelled garments:

Machine Washable wool: Specially treated garments that you canmachine wash at 40°C using the woolwash cycle - without shrinking or losingwool’s elasticity and powers of recovery.

Total Easy Care wool: Specially treated garments that can bemachine washed and tumble dried -without shrinking or losing wool’selasticity and powers of recovery.Machine wash at 40°C using the woolwash cycle with a Woolmark approvedor other mild detergent. Once the shortspin is completed, the garment can betumble-dried on the low heat setting.

Wool mark approved Detergents

It is advisable to use one of the gentle wash detergentsthat have been developed specifically for finefibres such as wool. This assists in maintaining theappearance and longevity of wool clothing. Look forthe Woolmark logo on the packaging of the detergentliquid, powder or flakes to identify products which areapproved for wool machine wash programs.
