When Was the First Polo Worn?
Long-sleeved polo shirts were first worn in the late 1800s by polo players. They were originally a thick oxford cotton shirt with a collar. This polo was then further modified by tennis champion, Rene Lacoste, who was on a triumph to find a solution to the uncomfortable and stiff "tennis whites" he was forced to play in. Rene designed a white; short sleeved, loosely-knit cotton collared shirt, resembling a revamped traditional polo. This exceptionally comfortable shirt was quickly adopted by all sporting facets and has now seeped into everyday wear for both semi-formal and casual occasions.
Total Image has recently introduced to its wide range of uniform polos the new and innovative Velocity Polo. This polo represents the pinnacle of comfort, a particularly effective uniform component for a sporting team or for a job that requires extensive mobility. The Velocity Polo contains moisture management technology in the fabric, which wicks moisture off the skin, ensuring comfort in any situation.
